Maverick Design + Wedgewood Homes set out to revive this charming home near Santa Barbara, California. When we first visited the house, it showed plenty of potential, but the existing finishes were worn, dated, and undesirable to today's buyer. Maverick Design's mission was to bring the property back to life with thoughtful, impactful enhancements that would celebrate the home's existing character and add value for our future homeowners.
Complete home renovations can be costly and time-consuming. Our team approaches all renovations with a strategic design perspective by prioritizing updates that deliver impact while being mindful of cost and time. Improving the curb appeal was a key priority for this property, as the existing paint scheme was worn. An updated paint scheme is one of the lowest cost, highest return updates when transforming a home – and we like to say – the right colors make all the difference! We selected a traditional paint scheme to compliment the home and surrounding neighborhood. We also enhanced the exterior by adding a front yard seating area, understanding that today's buyers are looking for more usable yard space and new ways of enjoying their homes.
Inside the home, we strategically updated the finishes. The original kitchen was in good condition, showing minor wear from the years of use. Instead of replacing the kitchen entirely, the cabinets were deep cleaned, repaired, and updated with warm brass hardware. For the flooring, we installed a modern gray hex floor tile. Throughout the rest of the home, the design included refinishing the hardwood floor, fresh modern interior paint, and cost-effective, design-forward fixtures. Both bathrooms needed some TLC, so we chose statement tiles and new designer fixtures to revitalize and transform the spaces.

By keeping existing features that were in good condition and making cosmetic updates, we were able to minimize both renovation time and eliminate unnecessary costs while still delivering an impactful transformation.
